Under JJ’s vision, our curriculum addresses the critical gaps often overlooked by traditional competitive studios. Dancers emerge not just as performers but as individuals who understand the process of dancing on film sets, auditions, remounting choreography, and commercial dance. This seamless integration of innovative training in various styles with on going performance opportunities provides a comprehensive foundation that empowers dancers to deliver whatever content or process is being asked, but also and more importantly the ability to know and apply their own artistry.
In our first term, we emphasize the importance of community performance, audition preparation and technique. This creates endurance, adaptability, and a community-mindset. The large scale performance of this term is our original 3-act show presented at the Burlington Performing Arts Center titled, “Light Heavy Light”. All proceeds of these 3 performances are donated to The Lighthouse for Grieving Children.
In our second term, we begin new choreography to be entered into competitions, allowing our dancers to showcase their talents on stage through a thoughtfully designed competition circuit. In May, this term closes with a collection our competitive pieces re-worked as a multi-act showcase.
Lastly, our groundbreaking "Dance on Film" component not only provides hands-on experience but also mimics the dynamics of a film set. The curriculum goes beyond traditional boundaries, offering additional mentorship opportunities for those aspiring to become choreographers, directors, editors, camera operators or cinematographers, etc, making it a comprehensive blueprint for success in dance, or any profession.
