There are opportunities for students with a special interest in choreography, to explore this in all three terms. We empower our dancers to step into the role of choreographer, specifically, what it means to foster creativity through leadership. Through goal setting with JJ each term, dancers who are keen to develop these skills are given curated opportunities throughout the season where they can begin honing their abilities in this arena, setting pieces from solos to large groups on younger dancers, themselves, and their peers. Dancers not only gain the ability to communicate their creative ideas but also develop the art of storytelling through movement. This hands-on experience is guided in a space that encourages curiosity, empowering each individual to uncover their unique creative voice. These opportunities set JJ Dance Arts apart, equipping dancers with the experience, and thus confidence to choreograph, while gaining skills in preparation, collaboration, and leading rehearsals with efficiency and positivity.
This instills a sense of ownership and creative expression, emphasizing the importance of artistic individuality. Aspiring choreographers at JJ Dance Arts work directly with JJ, highly knowledgable and currently working in this field, to not only dance their stories but also shape and direct the narrative, ensuring a well-rounded and artistically empowered piece. This gives the dancers real world skills for communicating with dancers, actors, and directors on stage and screen.
The JJ Dance Arts dancers performed their December “Holiday Cheer” show outdoors for Burlington’s local seniors.
The tour to different performance venues serves as invaluable industry training, teaching dancers the art of adaptability and versatility. The ability to put up a show in varied spaces becomes a valuable skill as our dancers prepare the challenges of live and touring productions. Beyond the technical demands of dance, this term lays the foundation for a well-rounded dancer, ready to navigate the complexities of professional jobs with confidence.
These performances create a unique bonding experience, allowing the community to witness and engage with the artistry and dedication of our performers.
